Baker Mayfield Already Backed Down And Contacted Daniel Jones To Clear The Air About Ripping Jones In GQ

PFT- Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was unhappy about how comments he made in a GQ interview were perceived as an attack on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, so Mayfield tried to smooth things over. Mayfield said today that he reached out to Jones to tell him privately the same thing he said publicly, which was that his comments were turned into clickbait by media looking to sensationalize anything he says.

“It had nothing to do specifically about Daniel,” he said. “I reached out to Daniel because all of that blew way out of hand and I wanted him to know how I felt. I’ve heard nothing but great things from Saquon and Sterling Shepard, guys who have nothing but respect for him, and I respect their opinions. I just wanted to clear the air with him.”

Mayfield said he believed the quotes that he “cannot believe” the Giants picked Jones sixth overall and that it “blows my mind” reflected badly on him and made him come across as bad-mouthing Jones, which Mayfield says he was not doing. “To me, that came back on my character. That’s one thing that, I don’t care about a lot of opinions if you like me or not, but that looked like my character was way out of line, so that’s the only reason I addressed it,” Mayfield said.

Look at Baker Mayfield bending the knee and trying to get back on the right side of history with the future Franchise Quarterback of the New York Football Giants before the #Danwagon leaves the station and leaves nothing but carnage on the tracks, including the Giants game against the Browns next season.

In the end, none of what Baker said really matters since everyone in the world thought the same thing when Daniel Jones was drafted at 6, Baker has already claimed to be misquoted in TWO separate interviews where he trashed something about the Giants, and there was literally a blog written today about how he didn’t mean his apology for planting the OU flag at Ohio State’s 50 one bit. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on the clickbait media, fool me 100 times shame on me. Hopefully Baker can start talking about the Steelers, Ravens, Bengals and teams he is actually competing for a playoff spot with instead of another team in a completely different conference.

What matters from here on out is how Daniel Jones responds to the haters and losers (of which, sadly, there are many). He won’t be able to respond on the field until he plays in a regular season game because every preseason dime he drops is instantly dismissed with it being preseason. But he kinda responded yesterday while being Eli Manning 2.0 from the cliche answers to the hair to the aww shucks smile

And this is how I imagine DJ responded to Baker’s “clarification”, “apology”, or whatever the fuck you want to call it.

The best part about this latest controversy is that it seems like Baker Mayfield of all people has united the dunce Giants fans that were rooting against Daniel Jones’ success and may have gotten a few more people on the #Danwagon before the doors close for good in Week 1.
